Once you add an additional field as a column to a view you have currently and temporarily (without savig prior to adding the column) edited, the column will be added but the filters you have created will be reset. The user would have to re-create the various filter setttings which could lead to some frustration (or worse the user has forgotten the filter she has applied). I believe that this change request is almost a bug.

Repro-Steps:

get to some default view (or personal view), e.g. Accounts

add an additional temporary filter for e.g. City = New York (assuming you have that column City already there)

click on the Button: Edit columns

add any field e.g. Country

actual behaviour: the country will be added to the view as a separate column but the filter City = New York will be removed. :-(

desired behaviour: the country will be added and the list of accounts still remains with the filter set to City = New York (test it with multiple filters set).
