It would be nice to add a column in the general ledger that remains modifiable during the time. Basically, in this way, we are able to replicate what other accounting software are doing ("red" entries as open , "green" entries as closed). This can be modifiable whit a flag or inputting a letter. It would be perfect to modify the column via the "open in excel function" - so the "open" and "publish" would be available also for the General ledger. Dynamics should not accept that the columns not related to the "open/closed" entries can be modifiable. Just this one specific column should be open to modification.

For examples, an insurance company A can have an external provider B that pays on behalf of company A 1000 claims in one shot. Then when Company A has to close the debt with the provider B, A can issue one unique payment and close afterwards all the claims. So the one payment line can be matched with more ledger lines. This can happen also in the opposite way. For example Company A outsource the premium managing and the service provider B can send a unique payment for 1000 premium. Sometimes the payment is matching the sum of the 1000 premiums amount but other times no. So in this case, company A is able to match the payment of the 1000 (or 999, or 998, it depends), close the ones that match indeed and investigate just the ones that are not matched.

I know that there could be a possibility to use the subledgers but to mix up items like vendors and other type of accounts like premiums, claims , all the control accounts it not the best option for structured and complex companies.
