I would like to enter the item number in and press enter to bring up the item card. Same for vendor and customer.
You might be able to instigate a search on the tell me like this
Alt + Q i 1234 enter
This would bring up the itemcard 1234
or
Vendor 123456
Alt +Q v 123456

It should work similarly to the "address bar search engines" in your browser.
In the tell me search bar you type the keyword, for instance: item
then press "Space" or "Tab". The tell me search bar displays:
Search in the item list search bar:
now you continue typing whatever you want to search for in the item list, and press "Enter". It should then bring you straight to the item list with your search in the general (F3) search bar.
It should work for:
items
(archived) sales orders
(archived) sales quotes
(archived) purchase orders
customers
vendors
contacts
items
iteractions
warehouse shipments
warehouse receipts
...

I was thinking of something similar, but by using this Tell Me to show any record that has that ID, for example, customer on the phone, gives you an invoice number.. Alt+Q enter the invoice number and the Tell Me search shows all records that have that record.
Yes I think this is a query overhead to the search, but would be most useful, customers have asked for this in the past! so got my vote!
