It would be great if we could have an option to specify a SQL server/instance/listener per database for D365FO on-premises deployment. At the moment, it is only one server name that we give, which means that AXDB, Orchestrator and FinancialReporting all need to be in the same SQL instance. The most important (cost wise) thing that this would give us is to have a possibility to use Basic AlwaysOn AG in SQL Standard edition as we could create 3 Availability Groups/listeners and have 1 DB in each (which is a limitation for basic AG).
This would decrease the overall cost of D365FO on-prem installation for customers that don't need any of the SQL Ent features and don't need to use secondary replica for anything other than failover.
