A number of projects I have worked on use 3rd party transport planning tools for load and shipment creation and planning, the results for which are then imported into D365. When this happens we often know which vehicle and loading bay we want to direct the outbound work to before we actually release the orders to the warehouse which in turn can generate the required work.
I am not aware of a way within D365 that we can ensure the work created is sent to the correct loading bay based on the plan without creating a loose location directive and then using manual direction from a supervisor to the correct loading bay and then use Anchoring to ensure the whole load/shipment goes to the desired bay. I believe this would need a modification.
.
If the location directive could be set up to take the value in a specific field specified by the user, for example the 'Location' field on the outbound appointment, and use that in the work creation process.
This would apply to the 'Location directive Actions' area and for 'Put' work types
