I know it's possible to rework a batch order. Is it possible to also add this rework functionality to discrete production orders? I've seen many scenarios where a discrete item has to be reworked (example: re-sanded after sitting for too many days). Right now this is handled by just creating a new production order for the finished item, changing the production BOM to 0 for all components, and really just recording the labor/machine costs in a route card. When the order is ended, there's variances (Standard costing) since we finished with 'no material'. Also, we still have to scrap the finished piece from the original order and report as finish the 'rework' production order. A simple rework functionality for production orders would be a lifesaver.

Thank you for your feedback.

This is a great suggestion! We will consider this in our roadmap.

Not having to maintain a BOM or create a BOM with a part in itself, the flag for rework, the impacts to planning, reporting, and costing or a huge plus. Those small improvements save a step or two on every rework order in discrete. In some industries that are NOT food, pharma, oil/gas manufacturers have significant rework that should be tracked separately from standard production. Similarly, clients may want to prevent circularity in BOMs for anything that is not rework. Even though you can achieve with some work arounds and steps, adding this automation like currently exists with batch orders would be hugely beneficial.

Although you can achieve this by nesting a product in its own production order, the classification of the order as a rework is helpful for shop planning, notification and costing.

You can achieve this by manually adding the product to it's own Production order, plus a service item for the subcontracting if necessary (you can put that in an alternative, approved/non-activated BOM).
