For reporting issues, in and with the data of Business Central, the dimension data model is used to give more detailed possibilities during analytics.

Actually the dimensionvalue must be created before it can be attached to master data or documents/postings. Therefore it would be brilliant if the dimensionvalues could be created automatic.

For example (new customer with no. 12345 and the name "Company XY"

• the user defines, that from the customer master data table each new record, should also generate a dimensionvalue, for the dimension customer
• New created Dimensionvalue
• Code = 12345
• Description = Company XY
• this dimensionvalue is than attached to the master dataset automatic as default Dimensionvalue
• Dimension Code = CUSTOMER
• Dimension Value Code = 12345
• Value posting = Code mandatory

The above mentioned concept could be implemented also in data models like sales documents (to connect all sales order related postings), purchase orders, project, and so on. On those entries the extended reporting would be very helpfull.
