Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future.
What is the point of having a comment if it doesn't end up being posted? The only thing I can think of is as a helper to explain some recurring journal lines, but the chief benefit here would be documentation of corrections, which, of course, can only be done if we're talking about posted lines.
There are currently two fields in the general journal that you can add free text to - Transaction Information and Comment - BUT - you can't get that information after posting. Not sure why there are fields in the entry window that you can't query after posting.
I agree, Unless I keep an off system list of why something was done - most recently in the item journal, we had added some items via this journal, we have no way of knowing why those were added, who made the request, etc. To be able to add some free text on each line would be VERY helpful.
