Main business scenario:

Different workstations are used in production to assembly products. In addition, operators and tools are required to finish the job. Workstation input location is used for WMS raw material input location.

Configuration:

  • Primary operation is using resource group workstation as resource requirement since workstation input location is used for WMS raw material input location.
  • Secondary operation 1 is using resource group operator as resource requirement.
  • Secondary operation 2 us using resource group tool as resource requirement.

Business scenario not supported:

  • Configuration: If the requirement is to have two workstation from the group, ex the assembly require the additional space, the resource quantity is set to 2 for the primary operation.

  • Actual result when scheduling: System creates a resource requirement for secondary operation per primary resource. This means the number of resources on secondary operations is multiplied with the resource quantity of the primary operation.

  • Expected behavior: System respects the resource quantity on the secondary operation and schedule the number of resources actually needed.

Summary:

Current design does not ensure good/flexible control of the number of resources scheduled for secondary operation. Business scenario where number of secondary resources is not equivalent/multiple of the primary resources is not supported.
