After the Polaris update, when qualifying leads, the dialog box is no longer available to select the creation of Account, Contact or Opportunity. When the qualify button is pressed, CRM Dynamics assumes that the user wishes to create an Account, Contact and Opportunity. When we covert leads, our standard practice is to covert leads only to Account / Contacts. This automatic assumption now will create opportunities within our system that will have to be deleted as the recently qualified leads might not be ready for an active opportunity within CRM yet but our sales team wants their contact info available in Email and on their Phones.

In addition, we use Campaign Reponses to create opportunities from Leads/Contacts. We usually will covert the lead first then convert the Campaign Response to an Opportunity under that Contact. This allows us to tie our marketing campaigns to the opportunity which can't happen now as the lead conversion is automatically creating an opportunity.

When we Qualify a Lead, we are obliged to create either an Acocunt, Contact or Opportunity before the OK button becomes available. This mental model does not hold for all applications, for example, in a current banking solution I process Leads from the Web and hand them off after Qualification to the Core Banking system, which manages the product application process. I am now forced to create a Contact in my database which I don't want (and which I am immediately deleting with a totally superfluous workflow).

Thank you for your feedback. This is a great suggestion, and we will consider this in our roadmap

Thanks for the feedback. I believe the other suggestion is similar to this one, but you may want to track the example above along with the other post to motivate why this dialog should be configurable. The other post has my vote now :-) Best regards Paul

In our company's estimation this is a major flaw. 95% of our company's new revenue comes from 5% of our leads, and so automatically creating an opportunity for every qualified lead is something we do NOT want to do. Our management is demanding access via Ipad, and that mandates using the new interface. In forcing lead qualification into opportunity conversion, it either means that our opportunities have NO meaning, or that we disqualify nearly all of our new opportunities. Our other option is to change to a different CRM software package, and that is under consideration. I am confounded that Microsoft's software developers would change such functionality so profoundly without consulting with their users. It makes me worried what the next loss of functionality will be. If in their zeal to remove pop-ups Microsoft wants to stay with automatic selections, they should at least let this be an instance based setup option.

This is a real PITA. I would add that any duplicate detection rules are also now ignored and that this even occurs if you have disabled the new Flow-UI forms and switched back to Classic forms. Once enabled there is no going back - you can't undo this functionality and you have broken your CRM. You can't even migrate to a new organisation (the new features are pre-activated in new trial organisations). You are well and truely stuck - I'm not sure if you could even switch to on-premise as you would be attempting to migrate from an newer to an older version of CRM.

Obviously an indication that the Dev Team is not in touch with anyone who actually uses the product. On option to reset back to the original functionality is a MUST. This is actually forcing our clients way form using Leads all together. Swing and a miss here!

Thank you for your suggestion. From your description, we believe this functionality is already on a list of enhancements being considered for future releases. http://connect.microsoft.com/dynamicssuggestions/feedback/details/572472/convert-lead-dialog-box-cannot-be-customized Please vote for that suggestion if it depicts the same idea.
