The +New button seems appropriate to users when adding multiple related records (example Contacts to an Account). If the user adds the first record, then hits +New, the record is orphaned from the account unless all Account name and other inherited data is completed manually.
Workaround: train users to NEVER use the +New button, use Save & Close, then repeat for additional contacts.
