Currently, the G/L Budget page defaults its Date Filter to the calendar year (January–December), regardless of the fiscal year configuration defined in Accounting Periods.
For organizations that operate on a non‑calendar fiscal year, users must manually adjust the Date Filter every time they work with G/L Budgets. This creates unnecessary friction, increases the risk of reporting errors, and leads to inconsistent budget analysis—especially for finance teams that work primarily by fiscal year.
Proposed improvement:
Enhance the G/L Budget page so that the default Date Filter automatically aligns with the fiscal year defined in Accounting Periods, rather than always using the calendar year.
Benefits:
- Improves usability and reduces repetitive manual adjustments
- Ensures budget data is consistently aligned with the company’s fiscal structure
- Reduces the risk of incorrect budget comparisons and reporting errors
- Provides a more intuitive experience for finance and accounting users
This change would better reflect real‑world accounting practices and improve efficiency for organizations using fiscal years that differ from the calendar year.
