Need the ability to run a recurring journal where the type is balance and the balance pulls from a combination of the Account/Dimensions. Currently we have the option to add a dimension to the line but it has no functionality. Even when adding a dimension the journal entry continues to run for the entire account balance. I would expect this to pull the balance of the account/dimension combination and then move this balance (via recurring journal entry) to the account I specify. I had submitted a Microsoft Ticket (119111521001307) with further details. Overall I had 1 account with 2 dimensions (lets call it 60000 with dimensions 101 and 102). Account 60000/101 has a balance of 200 and 60000/102 has a balance of 300. When I define this on the lines using type balance it tries to move $500 on both lines. I was 60000/101 to be moved to GL Account 60001 and 60000/102 to be moved to GL Account 60002 for 200 and 300 dollars respectively. This functionality is currently not available. Please add. Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. We released this feature as part of the functionality in Use Recurring Journals to allocate balances by dimension values in Release Wave 2 2020 February update (17.4).

Consultant here: The Recurring type entry is pretty much not usable without this feature. That would add a lot of value for speeding up month-end process.

User story: A company has 2 business unit and 5 department (both dimensions). We want to speed up the pruchase invoice entry process by telling the AP clerks to fill only the Business Unit dimension and not the department

Each business unit has specific allocation keys for the department dimension (based on head count for example). BC will credit the expenses for each BU and re-allocate those to right departments.

It looks like the idea keeps getting votes and the status has been "Under Review" for several months now. Is there anything the community can do to help finalize this?

@Ben Cole,
The Status is still under Review (rather thank planned/scheduled which means the idea is still "hanging in the air". Here is the list of what is planned in the next release: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/dynamics365-release-plan/2020wave1/dynamics365-business-central/planned-features

@Microsoft
We are still looking forward to seeing this feature bringing value to Customers and Partners.

Thank you.

Iaroslav,

Thank you for reaching out. I see the same status you do. I have no update from Microsoft on the status of this request. I am hoping it is available in the April release but have not heard.

Hello Microsoft Team,
The "Under Review" status has been on this idea for the past several weeks this post was checked. The team is curious if we can be of assistance to help further with this?
Thank you for looking into this.

As a Microsoft Partner (BDO) Senior Consultant and in connection with end-user requests, it is worth saying that this idea would make D365BC Recurring Journals much more useful.
