Description:

In the previous outbound marketing app, it was possible to avoid sending multiple SMS messages to the same mobile number—even if that number was associated with multiple accounts or contacts. This was a critical feature to ensure a positive customer experience and avoid unnecessary costs.

After transitioning to Customer Insights - Journeys, this deduplication functionality has been retained for email but is missing for SMS. This creates a risk of sending duplicate messages to the same person, which can lead to customer dissatisfaction and increased messaging costs.


Idea:

Reintroduce the ability to automatically deduplicate SMS recipients based on mobile number, similar to how email deduplication works. Ideally, this should be configurable at the journey or segment level.
