The current sequencing groups for batch order sequencing are applied to the resource. This means that the Master Plan will run with the same rules for all periods until we change the sequence group details.

Real life scenarios do not work like that. Planners will run a certain sequence for a period of 2 - 3 weeks for example, then run a different sequence for the following weeks. Trying to do that on planned orders is really difficult.

What we can do is emulate the behaviour of calendars on the resource. We give the sequencing rules effective dates and expiry dates. When Master Planning runs sequencing, it works out which date bracket the job will fall into then sequences the order accordingly.

For that to happen, the effective dates have to be multiples of campaign cycle periods, otherwise the logic will become circular. This way we have a clean cut for order sequencing.
