Most retailers I have worked with have utilised the Return location functionality that allows Info codes to be tracked to warehouses and locations. This moves the stock into the quarantine warehouse. Having this stock separated from the store warehouse is beneficial in many aspects including replenishment and stock visibility.

However, when the stock is in the quarantine warehouse it is only possible to move or adjust the stock using the WMS application.

The POS now has functionality to transfer, move and adjust stock, but this is limited to the main warehouse for the store. Once the stock is in the Quarantine warehouse it would be beneficial to do the following using the existing stock management processes on the POS terminal

  1. Transfer stock from the Q warehouse to the Main warehouse e.g. Q101 to S101. This is because after returning an item into Quarantine, the store may repair the item and it becomes sellable stock. Also the ability to manually transfer from S101 to Q101 would be beneficial where an item has been shop floor soiled. not as the result of a return.
  2. Adjust stock off form the Q warehouse - Periodically a store may wish to adjust off their quarantine warehouse stock. This currently can only be done on WMS or in the client . Adjusting from the POS would allow customers that do not have D365 client access in store to action on the POS
  3. Movement - This one is less likely, but still potential. The Q warehouse may have multiple locations, and moving stock between these locations in store may be beneficial.

In general it would be great to have the Q warehouse that is attached to the store available in the stock management processes available to POS users.

I understand that for the transfer order processes there may have to be some automation of shipment and receipt as the Q warehouse will not have the ability to process
