At the moment we can only run a Word Template on a single record. To run it on multiple records, we'll need to create a workflow that will then attach the template as an attachment into each record. The workflow workaround is not a suitable replacement of the current Mail Merge functionality. Currently we can select multiple records and then run a Mail Merge, which will open a Word document containing all the records and then we can send them to the printer at once. If we were to use the workflow workaround, we'll need to run the workflow on those records, then find those records, download the attachment then print them out individually every time. It turns a 5 minutes work into a day work if we have lots of records to do.
