We are a government organization, that uses Levy, Federal, State, and Local funding to cover the cost of various positions, which means that there are employees whose work is split across multiple Cost Center funds (based on scheduled hours per week/pay period). For financial tracking purposes, we need to know which fund is associated with a position and the number of hours devoted to work that falls under that Cost Center (fund). This is a typical process for government organizations and may also apply to non-government organizations.
Currently, D365 HR Core only supports one Cost Center per person or per pay and there is no way to add additional Cost Centers or break the Cost Centers down by a portion of the (full-time) work hours.
Please note that we only use the HR Core module to do this. We have a separate non-connected timekeeping software, which we use for pay and leave allocation.

Multiple Cost Centers are needed to be assigned to portion of work hour, for employees with split funding per business need.
Example: J Turner, Environmental Health Supervisor
Position # OCA Cost Center Cost Center Description Hours/FTE
610 281323 8103023 Solid Waste 12 hrs/0.3 FTE
610a 281324 8103024 Rabies and Nuisances 6 hrs/0.15 FTE
610b 281325 8103025 Water and Sewage 10 hrs/0.25 FTE
610c 281326 8103026 Wellfield Protection 8 hrs/0.20 FTE
610d 281328 8103028 Construction/Demol Disposal 4 hrs/0.10 FTE
40 hrs/1.0 FTE
Note: Position 610 is the only position with Compensation for 40 hours of pay (which is a total hours worked for all positions 60-610d.)

The following areas show the Cost Center dropdown menu locations that are available.
Personnel Management\ Person’s profile\Work History Tab\Financial Dimensions sub-tab\

Personnel Management\ Person’s profile\ (Fixed) Compensation screen\Financial Dimensions section\

Issue: 1) There is no “add” button to add multiple entries.
2) And because the location of the Cost Center dropdown menus on the Person and/or Compensation level, it does not appear to allow for a work-around to add more fields/rows.
Work-around example (from old system): if the Cost Center was on the Position level, we could split the Cost Center by a portion of the work hours through splitting the position into multiple fragments (treating it as if it were multiple positions).
