Customer Insights - Journeys currently uses an iCal download for the Add to Calendar experience after event registration. While functional, this creates unnecessary friction because registrants must download the file and manually add the event to their calendar.
A better native experience would be the ability to automatically send a true calendar invitation to the registrant after registration, including the event name, date, time, timezone, and relevant webinar join details.
This would allow the registrant to simply click Accept in Outlook or their equivalent email/calendar client and have the event added to their calendar with minimal friction. That in turn would reduce drop-off between registration and attendance, improve the user experience, and better align event registration workflows with user expectations for modern webinar and event platforms.
It would also be valuable for this capability to support updates or cancellations if event details change.
Comments
This is really needed, especially since the recent .ics files for a webinar are in edit mode in New Outlook. This has caused a lot of confusion and issues as users need to CTRL + click the Join Meeting link to join the webinar. And, as mentioned, the download of the .ics has caused friction and if you updated a meeting, they have to download a new .ics instead of just getting an updated invite.
