When production orders are refreshed (with the option to calculate the lines), BC uses the base UOM from the item being produced as the UOM for the production order line. Users should have the option to enter a Production Unit of Measure to the item card and have UOM be the default on the production order line. The components can then caclculate off that as usual. Some clients may alway manufacture "cases" even if the Base UOM is PCS as an example.

Totally agree with your post.
i have the same issue and need to do a specific to have the BOM unit in the work order after refresh.
I think it should be on the road map as it is not correct to have base unit in the work order if the BOM is created with another unit.
