Customer Problem
Today, customers cannot self‑control or configure the SharePoint Recycle Bin setting that impacts Power Platform scenarios (Dataverse, model‑driven apps, document management).
When the recycle bin setting is disabled or not aligned with Power Platform expectations:
- Customers have no admin‑level control to enable or change it
- Even Power Platform administrators cannot modify the setting themselves
- Customers are forced to open a Microsoft Support ticket just to enable the recycle bin
- This significantly delays resolution and creates unnecessary operational overhead
This is especially problematic for production environments, regulated customers, and time‑sensitive incidents where quick recovery and governance are critical.
Current Experience (Pain Point)
- Power Platform admins expect to manage environment behavior end‑to‑end
- However, this SharePoint recycle bin configuration is:
- Hidden from Power Platform admin controls
- Not visible or configurable in Power Platform Admin Center
- Only changeable via backend or Microsoft Support engagement
As a result, customers are blocked from self‑service and must rely on support escalation for a basic and essential configuration.
Proposed Feature Enhancement
Make the SharePoint Recycle Bin setting a configurable, self‑service feature for Power Platform admin users.
Specifically:
- Expose the recycle bin configuration in Power Platform Admin Center
- Allow Power Platform admins to:
- View the current recycle bin status relevant to their environment
- Enable or manage the setting (where supported)
- Clearly document the impact of the setting on delete and recovery behavior in Power Platform
