When the financial period has been restricted for postings only for members of a user group. It will be great if the user who is not a member of the user group gets an error when selecting a date in the closed period, saving the journal or at the time of submitting the journal for approval.

At the moment user only gets the error at the time of posting the journal or when doing Simulate posting. However, we have a scenario where we are using the Batch job to post journals automatically. If we add the service account that is used to run the Auto posting Batch job to the User group to allow posting in closed period, then a journal created by a user who is not in the user group will get posted automatically by the batch job which is not correct.

Step

1- Create a user group and add members.

2- Apply the user group to a Ledger calendar period to restrict posting.

3- Create a GL journal in a restricted period as in step 2 above.

4- Save the journal.

5- Submit the journal workflow for approval.

6- Approver approves the journal.

7- User posts the journal and gets error that user is not allowed to post in closed period.

8- The Auto posting journal Batch job runs and posts the journal in closed period.
