Businesses in the UK are required to submit a CIS return to HMRC monthly. This is normally done electronically.
The following new functionality would be required at time of generating the CIS return.
- A mechanism would be required to automatically submit the CIS return to HMRC. A standard HMRC API for CIS is available, so this could potentially be used. Technical specifications for the Construction Industry Scheme Online service - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
- It must also be noted that many ERP products offer a standard CIS API for this, this is really something that MS should have as standard. This is a really great idea. As the functionality in Business Central continues to increase, we have more clients in the construction sector that want to move to Business Central but are put off by the lack of compliance with the UK's requirements relating to the CIS managed by HMRC.
