Effectivity dates across Dynamics is common. Please keep up the standards.

Imagine you change your name by a deed poll or get married.

There is period of time where your old name must be valid and not the new one  (looking in the past records).

Its imperative that date control is present for Worker Records in an HRM system, its difficult to see how this can be managed without such functionality.  Great idea - please action Microsoft!

HR users must be able to 'Change worker name' but the form should also capture the date that a name change is valid from.  Functionality should enable future and past dated named changes, and for changes to be viewed and managed via the changes timeline and/or name history.

Alternative to the Change worker name form capturing the date, the user could use the 'As at date' on the ribbon and for the Change Worker name not to be greyed out.

Scenarios:

Frequently name changes need to feed through to reports an integrations e.g. payroll systems; insurance and benefit suppliers.  It is not unusual in larger organisation for someone to turn up after getting married with certification indicating a name change that needs to be back dated.  This functionality could mitigate downstream compliance risks of not reporting name changes in a timely manner.
