For advanced warehouse enabled items, it's possible to create reservation hierarchy with batch below dimension and still have the ability to reserve specific batch on a sales line.
Recently the same functionality has been extended to order commited license plate reservations.
However, it's not possible to do the same for serial numbers. When 'serial' is below location, it's not possible to reserve it on a sales line.
The idea is to extend existing logic to include order commited serial number reservation when 'serial' is below 'location'.

Supporting business requirement would be e.g.:
RMA for serialised part is created into advanced warehouse.
Item is received into stock and repaired. After repair, sales order is created to pick and dispatch the item back to a customer.
Since we are sending repaired item back to the customer, we need to make sure same serial number is reserved and picked.
