Currently, the “Add to calendar” experience generates and downloads an .ics file. While the file is successfully saved to the user’s Downloads folder, the experience is not seamless from a usability perspective.
After downloading, users are unable to open the file directly in the browser. Instead, they must navigate through multiple manual steps in Outlook:
- Open Outlook and switch to the Calendar view
- Select the option to import/upload from file
- Locate and select the downloaded .ics file
- Choose the appropriate calendar
- Click Import
Only after completing these steps does the event appear on the recipient’s calendar.
Because of this multi-step process, we would want Customer Insights – Journeys to support a direct calendar link option instead of relying solely on an .ics file download. A direct link (e.g., Google or Outlook calendar URL) would provide a much more seamless experience, allowing users to add the event to their calendar in a single click without needing to manually import a file.
