The out-of-the-box (OOB) rich text editor in Dynamics 365 currently provides limited functionality for formatting tables, which significantly impacts the ability to create professional, well-structured email communications.
At present, users cannot design and format tables with the same level of flexibility and quality available in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook or Word. This limitation often forces users to switch to external tools (e.g., Outlook) to compose emails containing structured tabular content, reducing efficiency and disrupting workflows that are otherwise intended to be centralized within Dynamics 365.
In contrast, Outlook allows users to:
- Apply predefined table styles (templates)
- Easily configure headers and cells
- Adjust formatting (colors, borders, spacing, alignment) with precision
- Quickly create professional, visually consistent content
We strongly recommend enhancing the Dynamics 365 rich text editor to align more closely with the capabilities of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly by:
- Introducing table styles/templates
- Providing advanced formatting options for headers and cells
- Enabling intuitive design controls similar to those in Outlook/Word
These improvements would empower users to create professional email content entirely within Dynamics 365, increase productivity, and ensure consistency in communication without the need to switch between applications.
