Around the time of launch of BC24 Microsoft introduced a bunch of additional security layers to Entra and Office Admin Centers.

Due to these new security layers the User update in Business Central from Entra now takes a lot longer time than we have been used to in BC23. We are talking 1-12 hours.


I am fully aware of the notice regarding "it might take up to 72 hours".


But I see a major problem in a user case today that I need solved:

I move User X from one Security Group to another in Entra.

I Update Users in Business central (including all best practices, F5, leave page, log out-in).

Within one minute the fact box on User X on the User List reflects the change.

BUT the users functional permissions have NOT changed...!

This happens at a random time later on - without I am able to see, when it has kicked in.


I have created a ticket, and got the feedback:

  • As explained the time frame mentioned is within the replication normal time
  • This replication time might be taking longer than before due to more security implementations has been applied over Entra and Office admin centers.
  • We've confirmed that this is a normal behavior that's happening due to the mentioned reasons above
