Hi, I think you should enable setting up a scheduled replication/backup of the database to an Azure SQL database for external data warehousing and analysis tools. Thanks for considering.

The API and web services are lacking functionality and are much to slow to expose the BC data, so this would indeed be a better solution.

Anything you can do to make it easier and faster (more performant) to perform ETL/ELT on all BC-tables would be great.

It's kind of strange that this is something that get so little attention from Microsoft, since being able to create fast BI solutions and get access to all your data in an ERP system is something every customers wants...

Every BC customer takes all the effort to implement BC, enter the data, post transactions, setup the system,... But getting the data out is a real nightmare, especially because of 2 facts: current api's/ws are very slow and not all data is exposed...

I agree with Brain, it would be nice to have an option for a daily copy of the SaaS Azure SQL database for data warehousing, business intelligence, etc. Currently you must create separate API pages for each table which is not included in the standard Business Central API. In addition, if you need additional fields that are not included in the standard API, you need to create a copy of the existing API Page and add the additional fields.

Brian,

Just want to follow up with you on this, are looking to put any type of data into the Azure SQL database or data that is specifically in a company within Business Central? We do have the functionality of taking an on premise company database and replicating that into a SaaS business Central Tenant. This is a new feature called intelligent cloud. Here is a link to more info:
