The current WHS functionality doesn't have functionality to cross dock production requirements.
Scenario/situation
- A production order for assembly of a finished product with 100 parts
- 90 parts are on-stock
- 10 parts are not on-stock
- Production order is released to the warehouse (allow partial release)
- Wave is created, but not fully processed due 10 parts are not on stock
- Pick & Put work is created for 90 parts
- Supplier delivers the 10 remaining parts
- 10 remaining parts will be registered on the inbound location
Solution Idea
- An automatic put away proposal of the 10 parts from inbound to the input location of the production order.
- D365 should consider the open production wave lines for the put away from inbound to the input location
- An automatic split up of put away work to central warehouse location and input location in case when more parts arrives then required.
Comments
This idea from 2018 with this many upvotes, and requests from multiple companies really should be considered once more.I have worked with multiple production companies whom all had this on their requirement list.Any chance we can have an updated status?

This is a function that most production companies are in need of, in one way or the other. Please do consider it.

This functionality is a necessity for all production organizations I have worked with.

We can use this functionality for sales order, however not for production/works orders.I personally don't see why this can't be added. We would welcome this configuration in our business also.

We also need this feature very much. Please put this on the agenda.

Need something from receipt of goods to direct to production input location if demand exists on works orders. It always will be a requirement. It always will be seen as a weakness by customers of the product without this functionality.

This is a regular requirement for clients. It seems a large oversight to have not introduced cross-docking for all demand types.
