Description
During the solution import operation in the Power Apps Maker Portal, there is currently no visible progress indicator or detailed status information provided through the user interface.
From a user perspective, the portal only displays a generic “Importing” state, without offering insights into the actual progress or internal processing. As a result, users are unable to determine:
- Whether the import process is actively progressing
- Which stage of the import pipeline is currently being executed
- Whether the operation is encountering retries, delays, or internal errors
- The estimated remaining time for completion
This lack of transparency makes it difficult for users to distinguish between:
- A normal long-running import
- A platform-side issue
- A potentially stuck or failed import operation
Requested Improvements
Introduce real-time progress visibility during solution import
Provide a user-facing progress indicator (e.g., percentage, progress bar, or step-based tracker) to reflect ongoing import activity.
Enhance visibility into backend processing stages
Expose key stages of the import pipeline (e.g., validation, dependency checks, data upgrade, publish operations) to improve transparency.
Provide estimated remaining time for completion
Offer an estimated time remaining or duration indicator to help users better plan and manage deployment activities.
Improve error and retry visibility
Surface meaningful indicators when the system is retrying operations or encountering transient issues, instead of showing a static "Importing" status.
Business Value
- Enables enterprise users to clearly distinguish between expected long-running operations and potential platform issues
- Reduces uncertainty and improves user confidence during deployment activities
- Minimizes unnecessary support cases triggered by perceived “stuck” imports
- Improves operational efficiency and planning during ALM processes
- Aligns with enterprise expectations for observability, transparency, and deployment reliability
