It would be interesting if the webclient / service tier could have a setting to disable all the (fancy) animations / sliding transitions between pages / opening - closing fasttabs. This looks nice but slows down the navigation process / UX, especially for experienced users / users needing to do fast data input.

On Yammer, you can find a capture for a local on-prem environment with sufficient CPU / memory, showing the delay when opening / closing the fasttabs. Seems like this could go a lot faster when animations get disabled ...

The impact of animations is especially visible when using the system in a citrix / rdp environment.

On Prem environments are not necessarily accessible directly from users' computers.

There definitely should be an option to disable animations.

It is 20.02.2023, almost 3 years after start of this post. Is this still under review? This is huge problem. Every single user in our company complains that Nav BC is way to slow - it makes them less productive - it costs us money,

It is more then twice slower then Nav 2018 and not to mention Nav 2009 - probably 5 times slower. This is not progress, this is regression.

In these difficult times we should not ask, but we should demand for this feature.

It would not only save time, but also conserve energy and reduce CO2 footprint.

Every time I when wait for animation to complete I see pictures of wasted planet in my mind.

I agree that this is too much animation and way too resource-intensive. In the meantime you are able to use custom CSS and the stylus-extension in the browser to get rid of this.

When comparing the speed with legacy systems like IBM AS400, reaction on keyboard input is very slow. People used to these legacy applications might experience this as a step back. They might get the impression this is slowing down there productivity. Worst case this results in no user-acceptance, which might stand in the way for a successful implementation of Business Central.

Keep us posted.

Thanks

Is there an update on this?
It would be really nice if the animations can be disabled.

I believe the animation is intentional to mask the fact that it's very slow

Can't agree more. Web Client on SaaS doesn't feel snappy at all, disabling animations would definitely speed things up.
