Make a directive (some like for location) that can be set a models for reservation. Clients simply want to have an opportunity to change some reservation issue for e.g.:
- their customers have a time limitation on reservation, they have a time window which the must pay for goods to start logistic operation (wave, picking, packing etc.). If they do not pay, after this time reservation is lost, and pool of goods back to whole on-hand availability.
- changing a reservation hierarchy or more elastic hierarchy, that can reserve for e.g. current batch number in whole warehouses an split works and waves for them.
- set the sequence to check availability on dedicated stock (look down in text)
New dimension: “Dedicated stock” to make a sequence of searching in. Normally there are three types of reserves/stocks:
- whole availability – they are available for all.
- dedicated for customer – they are available ONLY for exact customer or group of customers
- dedicated for order – they are available only for exact order (selling or production).
This new dimension can be use in business cases like:
- outbound dedicated pools of goods with different packing or from dedicated production or with dedicated wrapping (different language on boxes, different manuals, different country origin or destination, etc.) or different quality for goods.
- dropshipping (very often in e-commerce small shops) – client have a customers that want to have a stiffly stock some goods, but until they sell it to end customer, goods are not they own. They sell goods, but we do the whole logistics. They want to have a stock for example 50 pcs. by Item and it must always be on-hand - it is minimal guarantee quantity. Dropshipping availability is on warehouse level, not on lower dimensions in hierarchy. We sell them first from “Whole availability” and if it finish, we use dedicated.
Unfortunately we cannot take this from Inventory status, because it is used mostly to set logical layer for “healthy” of goods: available, damage, hold on, scrap etc.
Whole this directive we can pinpoint on customer account marking a default for him, also on herder of Sale Order we can choose special dedicated model of reservation for this particular SO. The list can be restricted only for special directive or for all universal.
EXAMPLE for “Reservation directive”:
If dimensions are “blank” (no value) – we take them from Order.
EXP1. We have customer, that have dedicated wrapping but only when they send it to UK.
- Query for directive:
Country of destination=UK
- Hierarchy:
Site; Warehouse; Dedicated stock (DS=dedicated for customer); Inventory status; FIFO (the oldest). The rest of dimensions are no relevant. Location directive do this.
EXP2. We have customer, that have dedicated wrapping but only when they send it to UK. They want send whole from all warehouses but dead line for paying is 23 September 2017.
- Query for directive:
Country of destination=UK
Date of obsolete=23.09.2017
- Hierarchy:
Site; Dedicated stock (DS=dedicated for customer); Warehouse; Inventory status; FIFO (the oldest). The rest of dimensions are no relevant. Location directive do this.
EXP3. We have dropship customer.
- Query for directive:
Blank
- Hierarchy:
Site; Warehouse; Dedicated stock (DS=1. whole availability,2.dedicated for customer); Inventory status; FIFO (the oldest). The rest of dimensions are no relevant. Location directive do this.
EXP4. We have dedicated for order. Here we can use an outside number from customer.
- Query for directive:
Blank
- Hierarchy:
Site; Warehouse; Dedicated stock (DS=dedicated for order); Inventory status; FIFO (the oldest). The rest of dimensions are no relevant. Location directive do this.
In all this cases batch number is lower in hierarchy, because it is concrete. He can have much more batches that are accurate for our queries conditions and of course we must have to now with batch is proper to that.
On recipe or on-hand inventory we can set/change for portion of goods or for few batch numbers this conditions setting: whole availability, dedicated for customer – choose exact customer or group of customers; dedicated for order – set a manual value for e.g. outside customer order number.
Comments
I forgot to mention about “DS=dedicated for order” – it could be a value, that is precisely the number, or it can be a text value, describing a type of something for e.g. we have three ways of selling, and we want to have dedicated inventory for each them separately and we set: wholesale, retail, e-commerce. We use on SO proper Dedicated Stock value. This can be done for non-stiffly customers with different ways of selling. If we have customer that is stiffly pinpoint to for e.g. wholesale, we can set a Customer Group called “Wholesale” and sue DS=dedicated for customer.
