Feedback / Enhancement Request
While demonstrating Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to prospective customers using sandbox environments, we have observed that although the system provides a large number of standard reports (approximately 500+ reports), two of the most commonly requested business reports are not available out of the box:
- Sales Register Report
- Purchase Register Report
These reports are considered fundamental by many organizations for analyzing transactional activities, reviewing sales and purchase movements, and obtaining a consolidated view of business transactions within a specific period.
During customer demonstrations, we are often asked to present Sales Register and Purchase Register reports as they are standard reporting requirements in many ERP systems. Since these reports are not available in standard Business Central, we must guide users through multiple pages and inquiries, such as:
- Sales Order Lists
- Sales Invoice Lists
- Purchase Order Lists
- Purchase Invoice Lists
- Sales and Purchase Line Lists
- Customer and Vendor Card Pages
- Various analysis and inquiry pages
Users then need to navigate across multiple screens and apply filters to identify customer-wise or vendor-wise transactions, item details, quantities, values, document statuses, and related information. This process can be time-consuming and less intuitive, particularly for new users evaluating the system.
Many existing customers also request these reports as part of their day-to-day operational and management reporting requirements, as they provide a simple and consolidated view of sales and purchase transactions for reconciliation, review, and decision-making purposes.
We would like to request Microsoft to consider providing standard Sales Register and Purchase Register reports within Business Central using a globally accepted reporting format. These reports should ideally include key information such as:
- Document Number
- Posting Date
- Customer/Vendor Information
- Item Details
- Quantity
- Amount
- Tax/VAT Information
- Document Status
- Relevant Dimensions
Introducing these reports as standard functionality would significantly improve user experience, simplify transaction analysis, enhance customer demonstrations, and reduce the need for custom report development across implementations worldwide.
