Problem Statement:
In the Finance Power BI app for Business Central, the current Finance Report template (Aged Receivables and Aged Payables – Back Dating) displays both the original invoice amount and the applied payments within the same matrix.
While the remaining balance is calculated correctly, this presentation can be confusing for users, as the invoice amount shown does not directly represent the outstanding balance. As a result, the figures may appear inconsistent and require additional interpretation.
Currently, the standard report does not provide an option to display the remaining (outstanding) amount at the invoice level as the primary value in the matrix.
Suggested Idea
Enhance the report presentation by providing an option to display:
→ Remaining (outstanding) amount at the invoice level, instead of (or alongside) the original invoice amount
This could be implemented as:
- A configurable measure, or
- A toggle/setting within the report
Business Impact
This enhancement would improve usability and clarity by:
- Ensuring the displayed value directly reflects the open receivable/payable position
- Aligning the invoice-level values with aging buckets and balance totals
- Reducing the need for users to manually reconcile original amounts against applied payments
- Improving overall interpretability of the report for finance and business users
Comments
Wonderful Idea, will looking forward for the implementation of this latest feature from Microsoft to enhance the product further as needed.
