When creating email templates in Dynamics 365 Sales, resizing an image in the template editor does not apply to the final email. The preview shows the image at the resized dimensions, but when the email is sent, most email clients render the image at its original resolution. This creates a misleading experience for users and can result in embarrassing formatting issues in live client communications.

Impact:

  • Users assume the preview is accurate and trust the editor’s resize function.
  • Large images appear full-size in client inboxes, breaking layout and professionalism.
  • This issue can negatively affect brand perception and client relationships.

Expected Behavior:

  • When an image is resized in the template editor, the system should automatically apply explicit width and height attributes in the HTML.
  • Alternatively, the preview should display a warning: “Resizing in the editor does not affect actual email rendering. Please set width/height in HTML or upload a smaller image.”

Why This Matters: Sales emails are critical for customer engagement. Misleading previews cause real-world business problems and user frustration. This is a basic expectation for any email design tool.
