Since the Product Team has advised that, starting from version 20.0, indirect permissions on the Customer table from the Contact table are no longer available in Business Central, we require these permissions to be reinstated.

The issue arises when an employee needs to work exclusively with contacts and at least create customers or vendors from the contact list. Currently, to allow this, we must grant full permissions to the Customer/Vendor tables, which also enables them to modify any record in these tables.

Restoring indirect permissions to the Contact table would enhance efficiency and security by allowing controlled access without exposing sensitive data to unnecessary modifications.

Thank you for this suggestion! Currently this is not on our roadmap. We are tracking this idea and if it gathers more votes and comments we will consider it in the future. Best regards, Business Central Team

The indirect permission must be included in all the masters which can be created from contacts. Not only in tables Customer and Vendor, but also for Employee and Bank Account.
