The proposed feature is a "Field Source Indicator" that displays information about the origin of a field when a user hovers over it. This enhancement will help users quickly distinguish between out-of-the-box (standard) fields and fields added through extensions.


Key Features

  1. Hover-Over Tooltip:
  • When a user hovers over any field within Business Central, a tooltip will appear.
  • The tooltip will display whether the field is standard or part of an extension.
  • If the field is part of an extension, the tooltip will also show the name of the extension and any relevant version information.
  1. Visual Indicators:
  • In addition to the tooltip, a subtle visual indicator (such as a small icon or color code) could be displayed next to the field name to provide an at-a-glance distinction.
  1. Customization Details:
  • For fields from extensions, the tooltip can provide additional customization details, such as the developer or publisher of the extension, and the date it was added.
