Especially for the Auto parts industry or anywhere where a "Parts counter" employee is also the same employee receiving shipments of products, it might be particularly useful, at times, to take product out of a box for a particular shipment/load/etc, and be able to complete the picking of those products THEN be able to complete the putaway function for those same "already picked" products. Imagine being able to scan an item (complete picking), logically sort it on a physical cart/trolley, and when completing the picking of all the products in that shipment, you physically move the cart/trolley along, and "scan out of the queue" the items that were picked to complete the "Put" work for those items.
