There are frequent remarks about the search performance on list pages, because it will search through all fields on the page, even if some of them make no sense to search through.
Could it be a solution to add a fieldgroup (extendible of course) "SearchFields", similar to the "DropDown" ?
If it is not defined you still search through all columns, when defined you limit the search to the specific columns.
