The current working hour management does not provide enough flexibility. Requirements such as bi-weekly schedules can only be achieved through the API at the moment. Suggestion: Improve work hour administration. Ask to the community: Please add comments with your specific requirements. In addition to that, all bigger companies request shift/roster management instead of managing individual resource's working hours. It would be very helpful to be able to define shifts on a calendar and then associate resources to shifts.

That's a great idea, Alex!

We started to think about the Shift and Roster management in the Resource Scheduling, it is in our backlog for now with no timeline, more votes would definitely help us prioritize this idea.

Sincerely,

Vinay Nalam,

PM, Microsoft.

Also, the schedule should no be a copy of another resources schedule. This is not enterprise handling of work hours. I'd be happy to contrbute in some cont6ext when you decide to do this one, which I hope is soon.

There is already a proposal for that:

Consider voting for that proposal.
In essence, in the current planning model, (Master planning with finite resources) multi-shift work needs to be modeled with generic resources, not with dedicated named resources. That might be good enough for rough cut capacity planning (as you don't know your detailed shift assignments 30 days ahead anyway) but requires a complementary shift dispatching. Using the Dynamics Field Service scheduling technology for that might be a clever solution, it would however require to bring the generic (human) resource model into the CDM to be universally applicable for Manufacturing, Service (and ideally: Warehouse and Quality) operations.

Both part of this proposals are good.

Sorry for my comment but i confused it with PSA. Universal Resource Scheduling is part of Dynamics Field Service.

I would also like to see it work in the Dynamics Field Service module.
