One of the biggest lack on D365BC SaaS is the direct printing functionality.
On scenarios like warehouse and production having the possibility to direct print a report to a local printer is a must to have.
Why not creating a functionality for that? It could be possible to handle this scenario with a service that must be installed offline (like the Intelligent Cloud service) that for example:
- receives the report stream via an HttpClient call from AL
- sends the document stream to a local printer

Good news! We released this feature as part of the functionality in Enable non-interactive printing in the cloud.

Hi,

This solution only works if printers are 'Cloud Printers'. Especially with labels printers this is not an option yet.
Direct printing to a label printer is still not possible and many customers need to be able to do that.

I understand that it might be difficult in a cloud environment, but on-premise this should be an option. In the printer management you can see the printers that are installed on the server. You can even select them in the printer selections. But if you want to automatically print to the local printers you still get a PDF.

Please make it work as it used to work before BC15?

Really happy this came out as a feature. this alone was a show stopper for every single one of my clients that ship inventory.

Question, setup in BC seems quite easy, email a printer. Are there any applications that I can install on the printing computer that would monitor for "an email" and print it to that printer. Zebra label printers do not have email ability.

DSI Global has a solution called Print Envoy:

Print Envoy lives within D365 once installed just like our ScanworkX warehouse management software. Print Envoy can operate stand alone without ScanworkX. Print Envoy is designed to feed either our EPP (Enterprise Printing Platform) or feed data files over to 3rd party apps like Bartender. Our EPP product is the alternative for Bartender. We can custom design labels with EPP. ScanworkX also uses EPP to drop labels and handle the printing.

Hope that helps!

This feature is a must have going to Web Client in Fall 19 Update!

WE NEED THIS.

When we have the service running for D365 FO, there should be no delaying this.

I am looking forward to having customers printing from SaaS soon :)

This is a must have and today I guess not yet even showing its true impact because we are still in the early uptake of customers going to BC SaaS.

I truly cannot image everyday operation running without direct printouts... just try and figure a warehouse or a manufacturing shop floor without. Forcing the least skilled employees to fiddle with multiple steps to get their printout, where they today simply find their stuff ready in the tray.

This is a general limitation for any web based application.

An out of the box solution must be available before completely eliminating the RTC client as planned by MIcrosoft.
