Analysis mode is a great feature that is saving folks a lot of time. Consider how helpful it would be to use analysis mode on items with attributes.
As an example, let's take an Item Category Code (ICC) of Fasteners and that ICC contains the drop-down attribute of Material. If there are ICCs of Nuts, Bolts and Washers who all have Fasteners as their Parent ICC, they all inherit the Material attribute, and they all contain attributes of the own that are not shared amongst all fasteners. Take the Washer ICC: it might have the following attributes:
- Material (Drop-down Option, inherited from Parent ICC)
- Thickness (Decimal)
- Outer Diameter (Decimal)
- Inner Diameter (Decimal)
If a user wanted to know what stainless steel fasteners we have, we can filter by attributes natively on an Item List with Filter by Item Attributes where Material = Stainless Steel. If you know what kind of bolt the washer could be used on, you might want to look at the list grouped by the attribute Inner Diameter. Since this attribute is not a field on the item card, we cannot leverage the new Analysis View to do this. There is the helpful ability to add fields from related tables to the analysis view, but the way Attributes and Attribute Values tables are constructed, this isn't available.
I think further development of Analysis View to be able to leverage Attributes would be extremely helpful and would add value to both the Analysis View and Attribute features of Business Central.
