In Dynamics 365, when importing product route operation properties using the “Engineering Change Order Product Route Operation Properties V2” entity, the import process does not proceed if the field “Change Type” is set to “Unchanged”. Moreover, the value of this field cannot be altered during the import process.

This behavior poses a challenge as it requires the user to know beforehand what has changed in a route and what has not, which is not a practical real-life scenario. Additionally, the user performing the import may not have access to the route form in the client due to separate security duties for the two actions.

Suggestion:

To enhance the user experience and accommodate real-life scenarios, it is suggested that the “Change Type” field be made editable during the import process. This would allow the system to automatically update the field if the line has been edited, without requiring manual intervention or access to the route form in the client.

This enhancement would not only streamline the import process but also uphold the principle of least privilege in terms of access rights, thereby bolstering the security of the system.
