Recent BC 1099 changes for the IRIS system to where we no longer need to purchase preprinted forms are great, but the forms do not fit in a standard, 'tax documents enclosed' windowed envelope. It would be great if these were formatted to where we do not have to do a mail merge and print labels but can use the addresses that print on the document with a windowed envelope instead.

The recent Business Central 1099 enhancements for the IRIS system—specifically removing the need to purchase preprinted IRS forms—are a great improvement and much appreciated. However, the current 1099 output does not fit standard “Tax Documents Enclosed” windowed envelopes. The recipient address does not align with the envelope window, meaning the forms cannot be mailed as-is. As a result, envelopes must be handwritten or printed using mailing labels, which is a very manual process. For organizations that send hundreds of 1099s, this approach is not feasible and significantly reduces the efficiency gained from the new feature. In its current state, the layout does not scale and does not align well with common IRS mailing standards.Suggested EnhancementsReformat the 1099 output so the recipient address aligns correctly with standard IRS-compliant windowed envelopes.Add a print option allowing users to choose between:Standard IRS form layout for plain-paper printing, orPrinting to preprinted boxed IRS forms.Ensure the output is more closely aligned with IRS standards and common industry mailing practices.Business ImpactEliminates manual envelope preparation and label printingSupports high-volume 1099 processingImproves efficiency during year-end filingsReduces errors and administrative workloadWho This ImpactsAccounting firmsPayroll and AP departmentsOrganizations issuing high volumes of 1099sBusiness Central users using IRIS for 1099 reporting

This is more than a convenience issue—being able to use a standard windowed envelope is a basic necessity to ensure accuracy, ease of processing, and correct delivery to the intended recipient. Ironically, the move away from using pre‑printed forms, while well‑intended, has made mailing more difficult rather than easier due to the current layout. This creates unnecessary manual steps and increases the risk of errors when sending required tax documents.
