Add the ability to use date formulas (as well as the current specific dates) for Posting Date Restrictions on General Ledger Setup and User Setup.

This would allow you to enter:

Starting Date: CM-1m+1d

Ending Date CM

Or you could add an option field with the following options:

  • Current Calendar Month
  • Current Week
  • Current Day
  • Current Financial Month

This will be really a good feature if included. Have been a pain when client/user have to manually update it every month and if they have multiple companies this becomes painful task. Ability to define "posting date ranges" on the general ledger setup using date formula will be a great feature to add for everyone.

So this is probably about changing the Date fields to Date Formula fields.I personaly do not like the enum variant, because it's far more restricted than a Date Formula.Alternatively we could have a background task to do the monthly switch.Advantage: It's still a clear date within the restriction fields.Disadvantage: We need a proper running task.Or we have the current Date fields & new Date Formula Fields. But then we still need the task.Advantage: Some users (finance department) usually have different Date (Formulas).

Yes, it a real overhead for companies to have to change this for all users when typically the do this at the start of the month. To make it more user friendly how about enum of common options - Current Month, Current plus previous month, Current Financial Year, Date Range, etc.
