I have had multiple customers request a feature like this in security. There are users who need to look up information and do not need to modify it. They would like to have that user default to 'view' mode when they open the page. Example would be the Customer Page - if you could set up either User specific or Page specific to default to view mode when the user double clicks on the customer in the list - this would cut back on accidental changes.

Thanks,

I can't wrap my head around why this has to be an idea and not already has been installed as default. Of course DATA as Customer, Vendor and Articles must be protected from editing. The pen (to mark for editing) is there already.

User would default to view mode but if there permissions allow, they could consiously select to go into Edit mode if they need to make any changes after reviewing data.
