Currently the only way to publish an extension on an on-prem production environment is to use PowerShell. In a real customer live environment, customer is responsible for any such code promotion to the production environment. In most cases, customer do not have the necessary technical expertise to run and implement the "enhancement extensions" using powershell. So to make code promotion simple for most of the customer base, it is required to have a feature to publish an extension from NAV client.
It is suggested to have this feature added to "Extension Management" page (page 2500) for both on-prem and cloud client . By clicking "Install" it will prompt the user to select a ".app" file and once selected, will perform the necessary publishing task, similar to powershell. Currently this option is not shown in on-prem client and it is also showing "External Deployment is not Enabled …." error.
