  1. Issue: After the upgrade, from version 22.5 to 23 all product tags on Shopify were unexpectedly removed when we synced the products.
  2. Confirmation: We confirmed this as a bug and appreciate that a hotfix was promptly deployed to address the tag removal issue.
  3. Tag Behavior: Post-hotfix, the tags are now behaving correctly.
  4. New Problem: However, we noticed that the product descriptions are disappearing entirely when the items in Shopify are ACTIVE
  5. Working scenario: The first time the items are created in BC, on the Product Sync function ALL the data is copied to Shopify (Item attributes, tags, Inventory etc) and the item is opened in DRAFT status. When the items is made ACTIVE, only the Inventory levels were adjusted from BC to Shopify. Now the Description, which is normally blank in BC, is overwriting the information that is maintained in Shopify.

The steps 1-3 are related to product bug, that was, as you mentioned fixed.
The steps 4 and 5 are related to some undesired behavior. I tried to reproduce based on your description, but I didn't manage to corrupt product description in Shopify. 

After code inspection we can see that the field Description is not used for export at all.
