We are currently implementing Electronic Document (E-Document) capabilities, which requires accurate entry of Global Location Numbers (GLN) for certain trading partners.

The standard ISO 15638 format often requires a structure like 0208:0462525791. When stripped of the separator, this number requires 14 digits (e.g., 02080462525791).

Current Limitation: The GLN Number field on the Customer Card (and potentially other relevant records) appears to be sized for a 13-character entry. When we input the 14-digit number, the final digit is truncated.

Suggestion: Please increase the maximum length of the GLN Number data field in Business Central to 14 characters to ensure full compliance and accurate data capture for all standard GLN formats used in E-Documenting.

Impact: This change will improve data integrity and ensure seamless integration with business partners using the full ISO 15638 GLN structure.

Thank you for your feedback. We are not considering the suggestion at this time due to the following reason:

The official specification for Global Location Number (GLN) comes from GS1 standards, which are referenced by ISO standards (including ISO/IEC 6523 and ISO 15638 for telematics frameworks).
According to GS1, a GLN is a 13-digit numeric identifier - and not 14-digits. You can find this in the GS1 GLN Allocation Rules Standard: https://www.gs1.org/docs/idkeys/GS1_Global_Location_Numbers.pdf
